When war between the Asa Gods and the Fenrir Ulv starts knocking on their door, what side will the damaged Haven choose? Will he find a way of trusting those, especially Alexander, who he feels has betrayed him and let his animal, the eagle, lead him straight to his fate by his mate’s side? “Wouldn’t that be the weirdest turn of fate, if this turns out to be true?” David said, scratching the back of his neck, snorting loudly, seeing the reaction it would bring in front of him.

“If this is his fate, then we have to go with it and believe the spirits know what they’re doing. Haven has reasons for his hate but he’s not weak. He’s one of the strongest people I know, and he needs recognition for that. Haven’s a good kid.” They all looked at each other, and started laughing. “Fine, and a huge pain in the ass but until we know more, let’s just keep this on the down low.”

“I’m with the tea snob, here,” David pointed at Eddy but looked at Coleman the entire time. “We can sort Haven out if all this comes to be true. We’ll make sure Alex and he get their shit together, fuck like bunnies to get that mated bond sorted, and then live happily ever after. I’ll tie the fucker down if I have too, and you know how good I am with rope.”

“Jesus Christ, David, paint me a picture, why don’t you?” Coleman groaned, rubbing a hand over his face.

“Sorry, Alpha. I’m not really that artistic.” He snickered as they started to walk back toward the main house, where David had parked his car.

 About the Author

Phetra often refers to herself as the odd man out, the dorky book nerd who rather spend her time with a good book or making up fantastic stories with even more fantastic characters, than live in the real world dealing with real people.

The real world is strange in a very non humorous way and people in it complicate it to the point of wearing you out. In the world of the written word no matter if it is in someone else’s words or that of her own things might get busy, complicated, and sometime even plain painful but somewhere along the line there is always a hero on the horizon. He might not be prime or proper, a church going pretty boy since the author prefer rebellious men and women who don’t follow the protocols of society.

One of her favorite saying are that only dead fish follow the stream and well she ain’t no dead fish.

Phetra live together with her family, two children, a domestic partner and their two cats in Gothenburg, Sweden and when reading her books you will notice that she always finds a way of bringing her on culture into her books.

The joy of writing and reading comes from her childhood and is something she has always loved, something she is passionate to share with others. Phetra loves hearing from her readers even with ideas of what they want to come next.

If you are looking for her the best place to start looking for her is at home in the quietest corner of the house where you’ll find her either curled up with her Kindle or her laptop typing away.

STYGIAN in 5 mini excerpts by Santino Hassell – plus a giveaway!

STYGIAN is the title of my newest release but it’s also the name of a band made up of moody tattooed rockers. They drive from Houston, TX to Logansport, LA for a summer music retreat and have big plans to write their sophomore album—the album that will finally get them signed. Except it doesn’t turn out that way.

They’re too busy bickering:

Sometimes Jeremy couldn’t decide if Kennedy was part of his problem with the band. Watts was a douche, but Kennedy was a complete enigma. He was an untouchable brooding mass of simmering discontent, but strangely accessible when he was trying to be helpful. Unfortunately, it wasn’t pity or guidance that Jeremy wanted. The very notion ratcheted his frustration up to unmanageable levels.

Banging:

Jeremy switched to pressing the bottle against his neck and quit staring at the hard lines of Kennedy’s torso. “Where the hell is Watts, anyway? I thought the people who own this place were supposed to live nearby.”

“It doesn’t look like anyone lives nearby. He’s probably fucking Quince in the woods so he can feel like he’s roughing it.”

Or stewing in sexual tension because they haven’t banged yet:

“Don’t start this,” Kennedy whispered.

Jeremy spread his thighs wide enough for his hamstrings to burn, but it was nothing compared to the pressure of Kennedy’s erection pushing against his own.

“You want me to start it.”

But the guys DO manage to play some music between the interpersonal issues and the looming mystery of the Caroway mansion:

Music flooded his ears— odes to punk rock and Fuck Authority, melodic ballads about loneliness and numbing pain, and, of course, Caroline. By the time they reached their peak, the kids from Shreveport were on fire with enthusiasm. They pogoed like it was a real show, sneakered feet crashing into ancient wood, and went nuts when Watts’s spine curled toward their tiny audience, voice gone low with agony.

By the time they finished, Jeremy had stripped off his shirt and was buzzed on the excitement from playing a solid set just as much as from the liver-punishing mix of alcohol. He staggered from behind his kit to the feel of hands slapping him on the back and several voices blending together in a cloud of admiration. Amy rushed over to him with a wide smile, crying out with excitement, but he reared away. He was too drunk to come up with an excuse and instead sought out the sweat-slick shine of Kennedy’s tattoos.

Unfortunately, that mystery leads to the unlocking of darker secrets than they imagined:

Hunter smiled, and Jeremy’s stomach flipped. He was often surrounded by gorgeous men in the music scene, but his body responded differently to Hunter. Jeremy found himself taking a step closer, then another, until he was crossing the boundaries of personal space.

“You just have to keep an eye out.”

“Anything else I need to look out for?”

 “No. Not in the woods.”

“So I do in the house? I heard it was haunted.”

The smile froze on Hunter’s face. “Who did you hear that from?”

“Some kids in town.” Jeremy wrestled with the desire to say more and eventually added, “And a feeling I get.”

“A feeling?”

“Yeah.” Jeremy gestured in a vague direction since he’d already forgotten the route he’d taken to the river. “I get weird vibes from the sealed-off wing.”

He expected Hunter to refute the story, to cocoon him in reassurance the way any other landlord would, but Hunter just looked at him quietly as they stood in the silent golden-green haze of the woods.

2015NewAbout the Book

Jeremy has been isolated and adrift since the death of his brother. Most people just see him as the skinny emo kid who wears eyeliner and plays drums. No one gets him. Nobody tries. He thought the indie rock band Stygian would become his anchor, but—lost in their own problems—they’re far from the family he sought.

Still, hoping to get close to Kennedy, the band’s enigmatic guitarist, he follows Stygian to northern Louisiana for a summer retreat. They had planned to spend six weeks focusing on new music, but things go awry as soon as they arrive at the long-deserted Caroway mansion. Tempers flare, sexual tension boils over into frustration, and Jeremy turns away from the band to find a friend in his eerily beautiful landlord Hunter Caroway.

Kennedy suspects there’s something off about the creepy mansion and its mysterious owners, but Jeremy thinks he’s finally found somewhere he fits. It isn’t until Kennedy forces the Caroways’ secrets into the light that Jeremy realizes belonging sometimes comes with a price.

2nd Edition

Forty years ago the Spirit of Vengeance—a Purpose—took William Morgan as its host, demanding he avenge the innocent by killing the guilty. Since then Will has retreated behind Gar, a façade he uses to avoid dealing with what he’s become. Cold, impassive, and devoid of emotion, Gar goes about his life alone—until his tidy, orderly world is upended when he meets Ryan, a broken young man cast out by his family. Spurred to action for reasons he can’t understand, Gar saves Ryan from death and finds himself confronted by his humanity.

Spending time with Ryan helps Will claw out from under Gar’s shadow. He recognizes Ryan is the key to his reclaiming his humanity and facing his past. As Will struggles to control the Purpose, Ryan challenges him to rethink everything he knew about himself and the spirit that possesses him. In the process, he pushes Will to do something he hasn’t done in decades: care.

2015NewExcerpt

Gar walked toward the window in his bedroom, wrapping the towel around his waist as he moved. Pulling steadily, he opened the blinds to the city below. The kid woke something Gar kept dormant for a reason. People couldn’t understand what he’d become. Worse, caring for someone only put them at risk. The Purpose didn’t care about the position held by the guilty. If vengeance was required, Gar needed to exact punishment. He’d killed stupid kids, drug lords, government agents, and powerful politicians. Survival required he move around, hide his identity, and not leave witnesses.

Having someone around made it harder, and while he was fairly invulnerable, Ryan was most definitely not. Gar knew he should send the kid away, but he was also aware of the pain it would cause. Not just to Ryan, but to him.

If he wasn’t going to reject him, he owed him a full explanation. Without any proof to support it, Gar was certain Ryan wouldn’t leave once he found out. Even with the risks being around Gar posed, Ryan would stay. For the same reasons Gar couldn’t turn him out, Ryan couldn’t leave.

Footsteps and the movement of the air alerted him before Ryan’s image appeared in the glass. He had a towel around his waist and had managed to tame his still-damp hair.

“Gar?”

“Yes?”

“Please don’t sleep on the couch.” Although a hint of desire caught in Ryan’s voice, the need to be accepted was louder.

Keeping his gaze fixed on the city lights, Gar steeled himself to decline the request. “Ryan….”

“Please?” The need in his voice forced Gar to turn.

Skinny, pale, and mostly smooth, with a patch of hair just above the waist, Ryan looked vulnerable in just his towel. It occurred to him that Ryan was worried the moment had passed and Gar wouldn’t want someone who looked like him. If only he knew.

“Ryan, let me finish, please.” Gar waited until he received a tentative, sad nod. “Before we do anything, you need to know who and, more importantly, what I am. I can’t do that tonight. This isn’t a rejection. My reaction in the shower was genuine. I do want to be with you, and I do find you attractive. But we can’t be intimate tonight. Please accept that.”

Tears forming in his eyes, Ryan searched Gar’s face for something. When he looked away, Gar knew he had failed. For too long, he had renounced his feelings and expressing them to others. Tonight, when he needed to reassure, he failed.

No, he hadn’t failed, not yet. “Ryan….” Moving quickly, Gar took Ryan’s hand in his. “Don’t look away, please. If you give me a day, you have my word, if you still feel this way tomorrow, I won’t say no.”

“A day?”

Gar nodded, keeping his gaze locked on Ryan’s. “Tomorrow I’ll explain everything. After that… well, after that, you’ll have to let me know if the offer is still good.”

“Tomorrow,” Ryan repeated softly. “Okay, but will you at least hold me tonight? I’ll be good, but it’s been so long….”

He wanted to say no because that wasn’t much better. Sex wasn’t the problem; it was the emotional attachment. Attachment. That was the rub. Part of him was already attached. He just didn’t know when, how, or why.

“Okay,” he said.
