Bound by Desire by Tempeste O’Riley

As a continuation of Designs of Desire, why did you ramp up the BDSM elements so much in Bound by Desire?

2015 Divider

In Designs of Desire, James was simply not able to embrace his own submissive nature or the Dom within his lover and soon to be husband, Seth. He had suffered too much abuse in his life and simply didn’t have the trust needed. But by the end of the first novel, much has changed for both men. James has really come into his own and Seth has learned ways to show James that he is more than man, more than sub, more than ‘enough’ for Seth. You see that Seth is a sensual Dom, so no impact play is wanted by either man, but each wants more….

Seth brings in ribbons and scarves, textures and other things 😉 and by the time we get to Bound by Desire James is finally able to embrace all of who he is, and all of who Seth is. It seemed only right to share that with me readers (plus, I kept getting emails asking if there would be a collaring and if I would be kind enough to share that so the readers could see it. I didn’t want to deny my wonderful readers the chance to see how James and Seth move forward in both their relationship and their kink 😀 … I’m not that mean… usually, lol).

So really, it’s not so much “ramping up” as much as sharing how they continue to grow as a couple, both as men and in their D/s relationship.

New Release, Excerpt & Giveaway – Let the Wrong Light In by Avon Gale

About the Book

LetTheWrongLightInSMAvery Hextall, a junior architect at a prestigious firm, is thrilled when his design is chosen for a new performing-arts center—even if it means working closely with his insufferably uptight project manager, Malin Lacroix. When a chance encounter in the boss’s office proves that Lacroix is anything but cold, Avery is determined to learn more about the real man beneath the aloof veneer.

Despite their growing attraction and their increasingly kinky encounters, the enigmatic Malin remains as emotionally distant as ever. Worse, Avery’s friends are convinced Malin thinks of Avery as a dirty secret and nothing more—a secret that might destroy both of their careers.

But the real secret is a single moment in time that haunts Malin and keeps him from committing to the life he wants with Avery. In order to move on, Avery must help Malin come to terms with the tragedy in his past before they can work on building a future together.

Excerpt

THE PROBLEM with barging into Lacroix’s office, Avery quickly discovers, is the reality is far more anticlimactic than he imagined. It starts out promisingly enough. He storms in without knocking, and that’s pretty great. Then he yells for five minutes and even pounds his fist on Lacroix’s desk for added dramatic effect.

Lacroix just looks at him. “Is there a problem, Mr. Hextall?”

Avery gives his desk a cursory glance, looking for the red pen. Fuck that red pen, man. And fuck Lacroix. Fuck him and his classy suits, his icy eyes, his hands that look more like a violinist’s than a project manager’s. They’re nice hands, actually… and wait, what is he doing? He’s here to yell at Lacroix, not think about his hands.

“Yeah, there’s a problem,” Avery huffs, ready to shout so loud that the glass panes in the window behind Lacroix will shatter into pieces. Maybe the son of a bitch will get sucked outside—à la every action movie Avery’s ever seen. “The problem is you’re a prick with no soul.”

“Please have a seat.” Lacroix waves at the chair in front of his desk, the chair Avery is holding on to with both hands. He’s thinking about swinging it at Lacroix’s head.

Avery yanks the chair out and sits down, realizes he’s just obeyed Lacroix, and then stands up again. “No.”

Lacroix shrugs, in that effortless, annoying way of his that’s number sixty-five on Avery’s “Reasons I Irrationally Hate Malin Lacroix” list. He has another list of rational reasons. Avery is a believer in the power of lists.

2015NewAbout the Book

Dr. Ethan Marshall is the young medical student on call the night Tessa Duran murders her husband for abusing her twelve-year-old-son, Rino. Ethan stays in the cubicle while the rape kit is performed and is surprised when the boy resorts to prayers instead of tears.

Despite compelling evidence, Tessa is sent to jail for life. To avoid placing Rino in foster care, their parish priest agrees to raise him. Ethan is touched by Rino’s plight and visits whenever possible, but the connection is broken when the priest and young boy leave the area months later.

Raised by the Dominicans in California, Rino considers joining the order until a romance blossoms with a fellow student. After much soul-searching, he turns his back on everything familiar, and chooses his orientation over his perceived vocation. Upon graduating dental hygiene school, Rino takes a job at the office of Scott Gregory and Robin Kennedy.

Seventeen years have passed since that horrible night in the emergency room. Forty-three-year-old Ethan is now a Dominant in search of a full-time submissive. Twenty-nine-year-old Rino is adrift, longing for someone or something to help him find the serenity he’s lost along the way. As they rekindle their friendship, they realize they might be perfect for each other.

2015NewExcerpt

ROBIN WALKED home because he’d sent Scott away in the car, and although he could have called for a cab, he decided the eight-block walk would do him good. It would give him a chance to leave work behind and get into his Dominant mindset so he could be on top of his game that night. He wanted to give Scott the scene he deserved and hoped that it would expel whatever poison was upsetting his beautiful partner’s equilibrium.

They’d had a long and blissful relationship after their fateful and dramatic start. He knew life was fluid, and ups and downs were a part of living. He and Scott had been luckier than many couples, considering they’d been virtual strangers when they’d first met. The bizarre set of circumstances that had started out as an impromptu hookup in a parking lot to a full-time BDSM relationship would have been hard to believe if he hadn’t been present throughout the entire journey. The odds that they’d even come this far had been pretty slim, but it only proved they were a perfect match. He was certain this current crisis, if you could call it that, would be easily circumvented with a little patience and a lot of loving.

He unlocked their front door, turned off the burglar alarm, and yelled, “I’m home,” while hanging his jacket in the hall closet. Nikes were toed off and parked on the shoe rack they kept by the front door before he punched in the codes again to reset the alarm. He climbed the stairs slowly, listening for anything untoward, and when all he heard was the sound of his own breathing, he relaxed. He pushed open the door of their playroom and was pleased to see Scott kneeling on the lush carpet they’d installed for moments such as this. He was naked with his head bowed and his hands clasped behind his back. Robin’s pulse accelerated in anticipation of what was to come.

Scott’s body was pretty perfect for a guy on the cusp of his forty-first birthday. There were no unsightly bulges, thanks to a life of moderation, and the rounded muscles on his chest were rock hard and sexy as hell. The nipple Robin had pierced during an intense scene they’d shared shortly after they’d met had a different jeweled bar than the cheap ring he’d used at that time, but it wasn’t sagging with age and remained as perky as it had been the night he’d driven the needle through the tender skin. Just thinking about that raunchy scene made his cock swell up and peek past the waistband of his boxers.

Robin began to strip, leaving his clothes in a trail. He circled Scott and noted with satisfaction that the new butt plug was firmly in place as he’d requested. He stood a few inches away, grabbed his erect cock, and rubbed it gently across Scott’s face. Scott lifted his chin, and Robin could see the silvery track of precum he’d left in a jagged line. Scott stuck out his tongue, licking what he could reach, but Robin purposely stepped back to get out of range.

Scott looked up. “Please?”

“What do you need, babe?”

“You in my mouth.”

“Only if you promise not to come.”

“I promise.”

2015NewAbout the author

Mickie B. Ashling is the alter-ego of a multifaceted woman raised by a single mother who preferred reading over other forms of entertainment. She found a kindred spirit in her oldest child and encouraged her with a steady supply of dog-eared paperbacks. Romance was the preferred genre, and historical romances topped her favorites list.

By the time Mickie discovered her own talent for writing, real life had intruded, and the business of earning a living and raising four sons took priority. With the advent of e-publishing and the inevitable emptying nest, dreams were resurrected, and the storyteller was reborn.

She stumbled into the world of men who love men in 2002 and continues to draw inspiration from their ongoing struggle to find equality and happiness in this oftentimes skewed and intolerant world. Her award-winning novels have been called “gut wrenching, daring, and thought provoking.” She admits to being an angst queen and making her men work damn hard for their happy endings.

Mickie loves to travel and has lived in the Philippines, Spain, and the Middle East but currently resides in a suburb outside Chicago.
