Wicked Men Blitz Banner

First, let me say thanks for hosting the Wicked Men blog tour. The creation of this lengthy novel was quite an adventure. Throughout the course of writing each episode, readers were offered the opportunity to give their input and suggestions on how they thought the story should move along. And I threw in a few twists and surprises along the way, just to keep them on their toes. The Wicked Men blitz features seven unique excerpts, so don’t miss any. And don’t forget to enter the giveaway!

2015NewAbout the Book

Sid Rivers and Jack Brown are two sides of the same coin. One is a lawyer with his own firm and dreams of money and power; the other is a criminal with a lengthy record and a quest for vengeance. When they meet, sparks fly. But was their meeting an accident? Or was it planned by the billionaires who want to control their destiny?

The Love of Wicked Men is an erotic journey into the underbelly of the legal profession, the corporate culture of profit-at-any-cost, and the secret world of industrial espionage.

Jack had to agree. His body ached like he’d been jumped by a group of men. He waited a moment and Rivers came on the mat acting exactly as Jack expected him to.

“My turn,” Sid snarled.

Jack bowed and they began to circle.

“You’re a long way from Huntsville,” Sid remarked with a sneer.

“I could say the same about you,” Jack replied as he feigned a left handed takedown. Sid turned quickly, spinning. His foot connected with Jack’s midsection, forcing Jack’s breath in a woof. Sid grinned but didn’t press his advantage.

Jack capitalized on his mistake and lashed out with a side kick that caught Sid in the head. When Sid attempted to block the next kick, Jack changed up and stunned him with three quick punches to the right flank. Sid lunged, and Jack tossed him over his shoulder. Jack rushed in, struck him in the face once, tapping his cheekbone with his knuckles, before he backed off to let Sid recover.

Sid jumped to his feet quickly, pure rage in his eyes.

“What’s the matter, Counselor? Can’t hang?” Jack taunted. He’d left a thin but visible welt on Sid’s face. It would bruise by the evening. With a little more force, he could’ve broken his cheekbone and dislocated his jaw.

Sid stepped away, signaling his next kick. Jack rotated his upper body, the kick catching his arm at an ineffective angle. He grabbed Sid’s shin and twisted, whirling Rivers in the air and dropping him on the mat with a hard thud. Those watching the match muttered quietly.

“You through?” he asked Sid, knowing the question would only incense him more.

“Not by far,” Sid growled.

Jack wagged his fingers, moving across the mat, his mind on Sid and not the audience they’d attracted. “Come on then.”

Sid bounced to his feet and leapt forward with a side kick. Jack blocked him, spun and drove an elbow into Sid’s thigh while ushering his graceless plunge to the mat. Sid came back quickly – punch, left, right, and then three attempted palm strikes. It was a standard set, but ineffective against an experienced fighter and Jack brushed each blow away easily.

A touch of respect welled in Rivers’ eyes, but it was obscured by his growing resentment. Jack knew it was time to finish before one of them got seriously hurt. Sid thought he was better than he actually was, and he was angry enough to do something stupid. He knew how to fight within the rules, but when there were no rules, he would end up hurt, or dead.

Jack feinted with a left fist, then went sideways into the throat and knee at the same time. Sid blocked to protect his throat, but missed the knee and dropped to the mat groaning in pain. Jack was on him in an instant, closing the space between them with a flurry of kicks to Sid’s ribs that would leave no portion unbruised.

He didn’t give Sid a chance to recover this time. He changed disciplines, showing Rivers what actual fighting was about. As Sid rose, Jack slid behind him, jabbing at Sid’s throat with his fingers.

Sid gasped and sputtered. His eyes flared. His discipline unfocused because of his anger, he grabbed at his throat, and then reached for whatever piece of Jack’s flesh he could get his hands on. Jack snatched his wrist from the air, twisted it and wrapped himself around Sid’s body, bringing them both back to the floor. Sid heaved against his grip, but Jack’s hold was solid.

Jack placed his lips against Sid’s ear. “I have a present being delivered to you later. You better pay attention to it.”

“Fuck you,” Sid spat. He attempted to roll, but couldn’t get Jack off.

Jack tightened his grip, slipped his opposite arm around Sid’s neck and cut off his air. “You’re a little boy in a man’s game,” Jack whispered, his voice full of contempt.

“And what’s it to you?” Sid rasped.

“Because you’re going to end up dead.”

2015NewAbout the author

Great stories should not depend on gender or sexual preference of a character, but instead upon the strength of the characters and the honesty and urgency of the story.

Brandon Shire proves he understands the complexity of writing LGBT fiction from two very different viewpoints – serious and smexy. His serious fiction is written for those who enjoy a book, which explores life’s darker elements in a more literary form, while the smexy fiction is for those who enjoy a graphically erotic romance.

Regardless of the differentiation above, Brandon writes for people who enjoy being challenged, and for those who strive to understand situations they don’t typically encounter. He pens raw, emotional stories about characters, which readers will either love or love to hate.

Life and love are pretty damned special, but neither is always perfect. Life can be painful, and real love hard to find. Brandon’s fiction is an exploration of the (sometimes) arduous search for the happiness we all desire.

Lucas joins the cast of a pirate show in the Caribbean but there two problems: the show is gay and he’s not. At least, he doesn’t think so. But the very sexy, very alpha captain Adam and his lover Tyler are convinced Lucas can stand to learn a thing or two about himself which they are more than happy to teach.

2015Excerpt

pirates1small“I’m not whoring myself out to you for a job,” he ground out. “I’ll be the best damned pirate on your ship if you let me stay. I’ll make you proud of me, Adam. I’ll make you proud of your show. But I’m not selling my body to you like a hooker.”

Adam leaned back. “Are you sure you’re one hundred percent straight?”

The question threw Lucas for a loop. “Am I―of course I’m straight. I had a girlfriend for two years. I’ve dated girls since puberty.”

“Have you ever tried dating a guy though?” Lucas grew alarmed when Adam’s attention fell to his lips. “You ever kiss one?”

The dream rushed up. Lucas smashed it down. But other memories surfaced: of watching Adam more closely than he should have, of being unable to look away while he was kissing Tyler, of wondering what it would be like to be under Adam…

Lucas jammed his left cheek against the wall as Adam leaned forward again, seeking his mouth. “No. Stop it. I’m not kissing you.”

“Then I’ll kiss you,” Adam breathed against his cheek.

His lips were hot as they drifted over the surface of Lucas’ skin, barely tracing his cheekbones. Lucas pressed his palms to the wall, trying to melt into it and escape the mountain of muscle that was Adam.

But there was no escaping Adam’s lips sliding down his cheek. No amount of straining could move his throat out of reach of Adam’s hot tongue. The first wet swipe across his skin pulled a gasp of shock from Lucas’ lips. The second wet stripe lifted him onto his toes as he strained away.

He shut his eyes, trembling fiercely as Adam buried his face against his throat and breathed against the skin covering his pulse. Each exhalation caused Lucas’ dick to throb. His face broke out in a sweat. His nipples tightened, rubbing against the inside of his shirt. When Adam nuzzled higher, tenderly kissing the skin behind his ear, Lucas heard a sound that he was sure would haunt him for the rest of his life: his own moan.

2015About the book

Life isn’t always fair, and that’s something that Llewellyn Gardner knows about first hand. His life was on the fast track until one night of extreme passion changed everything.

Now eight years later, he’s still living with the aftershocks of that night. Everywhere he turns or runs, there’s another reminder. What the hell do you do when you try to drown your demons only to find out they can swim?

Shane Smith, Jr. owner of Smith Construction, could see the emotional turmoil within his new employee — it’s why he hired him. There was something about the gorgeous, misunderstood man with the overly expressive eyes that came to their small town with a past no one was willing to overlook. Shane could see the good in Llewellyn, and those eyes of his were a clear window to his soul. Shane wasn’t going to let the man live a future of solitude because his past had been plagued with deceit.

Llewellyn wasn’t sure what to think about Shane. After years of protecting himself from being tricked twice, he was now faced with worry again. What would happen to him if Shane didn’t believe his truth, and walked away? Llewellyn wasn’t sure he’d be able to survive being left alone. Again.

2015Excerpt

“Thinking of going in? Or are you just gonna block the entrance?”

Llew turned at the sound of the sure voice behind him. Since he seemed to tower over everyone he looked down at the pretty brunette with dark brown eyes to match. “Um. Sorry.” Llew mumbled quickly moving out of her way.

“Well don’t be sorry shuga’, just escort a lady inside.” Llew didn’t blink as he watched the lady stalk towards him. Her full chest sat above an extremely narrow waist. It almost looked unnatural. She dressed and wore the amount of makeup that a grown woman would, but her smooth face and approach screamed her real age. She was jailbait if he’d ever seen one. Llew gave her a slight head nod and turned to leave when his elbow was hooked.

“I saw you in the general store applying for a job. You musta’ jus’ got into town, because if not I’d have known, honey. So you got kin here?”

Silence.

The laugh was an all-out immature giggle and it graded on his nerves. “Cat got your tongue, darlin’”. She moved in even closer and dragged a long red nail down Llew’s arm, tilting her head back to look up at him. “You want me to beg, huh? Come on now, handsome. Escort a lady to a movie… then maybe -”

“Maybe when he sees’ a lady… he’ll escort one.”

Llew diverted his attention away from the overzealous minx that was practically humping his leg and focused on the beautiful man approaching with another guy in tow. His voice wasn’t overly deep like his own, it was a smooth and melodic southern drawl. Like he could be a singer or a poet. He walked with an unhurried gait that was a mixture of ‘I’m in charge’ and ‘you’re on my time, not the other way around’, and Llew found it sexy as fuck. His tall friend chuckled behind him, moving away to purchase their tickets. Is he on a date? No, their demeanor definitely said ‘friends.’

“Mind ya’ own business Smith, Jr. I saw him first.”

Smith, Jr.

The man hooked one thumb in his pocket not the slightest bit fazed at the remark. But Llew was thrown. Was this guy actually gay or was she being a smart aleck? The man gave him nothing to go on. He moved closer towards them and Llew got a nice whiff of his spicy, bold cologne when a cool breeze blew his way. It was an interesting contradiction, because the man’s entire persona said ‘cool and composed’.

“Mosey along, Sallie Ann. Don’t make me ring ya’ daddy. He told me keep an eye on you while he’s gone and I agreed. He’d be rather put out if I didn’t follow through on my promise.”

She reluctantly let go of his arm, letting loose a long drawn out huff of annoyance. Llew didn’t bother watching her walk away. She was irrelevant. With his hands tucked deep in his pockets he eyed the man in front of him with a mixture of curiosity and wistfulness.

“Sometimes a person has gotta’ run interference with that girl. She’s usually not that bad but her daddy’s outta’ town, so ya’ know how young girls can be.”

Actually, not really.

“Hi. I’m Shane Smith, Jr.” he stuck out a large, calloused hand and it took Llew a couple seconds to process that he was going to touch him. Llew shook his hand, his mouth still closed tight as he watched the man’s eyes. They were light brown and full of humor and amusement. He immediately thought that this was obviously a guy who had little worries if any in life. Wait a minute…Smith….Jr. Is he the owner of? He let go of the strong grip on his hand and wished he’d been able to hold it a little longer.

“And you are?”

Llew swallowed before answering. “Llew.”

Those eyes twinkled again and dark brown brows rose up in question. “Llew…just Llew.”

It was a humiliation when a man hated to tell someone his name. But by doing so it meant that they would soon know who he really was. Know who he was classified as. He didn’t want this man to know that, god help him he didn’t. But lying wasn’t an option.  Fuck it. “Llewellyn Gardner.”

So many broke eye contact with him and Llew was more than intrigued that Mr. Shane Smith, Jr. was staring at him just as hard as he was staring back. He didn’t know why he was looking at him that way but he didn’t mind it.

“Now that’s a name.” Smith smiled beautifully.

Llew wasn’t sure if this guy was flirting with him or not, he’d been in a place where flirting didn’t exist for so long, he’d forgotten what it looked like…what it sounded like. The way Shane Smith, Jr. was smiling at him it sure seemed like it. Llew could imagine himself with a strong man like this. A man who was gorgeous but didn’t know it. Not overly done up in fancy digs, he was dressed like a working man but he wore that look well. He appeared simple but confident, like a man that followed his own counsel and was not easily persuaded. But Llew wouldn’t dare get his hopes up. As soon as word got out that there was a newly registered sex offender in their quaint little town, Smith, Jr. might be leading the lynch mob to run him out of there.
