Blurb: Malachi Warren barely survived a series of assaults on his life. But survive he did, though not without baggage. Now, Malachi must pick up the pieces of his shattered life—the most important piece being his boyfriend, Bran Kendrick, who is dealing with problems of his own.

Stagnating at his job at a small-town café, Bran’s pride keeps him from asking Malachi—or anyone—for help. Desperate to do something, Malachi secretly pays a celebrity chef with a bakery in New Orleans to take on Bran as his apprentice.

As Malachi and Bran begin to make a new life in New Orleans, the specter of Malachi’s PTSD and the growing stress over the secret he hides from Bran threaten their relationship. Before it’s too late, Malachi must confront his past and face his fears about the future, all without losing himself—and Bran—in the process.

Excerpt

“Pretty sure anyone would switch teams for Bran,” Seth said thoughtfully. “Those hands… can you imagine?”

“I don’t have to,” Malachi said, his tone dry, and Seth jumped, flushing.

“Sorry,” he mumbled.

Malachi waved him off. “I get it. He’s more than just eye-candy, though.”

“I’d switch teams for him,” Dave mused.

Everyone at the table fell silent and stared at him. Dave was about as straight as it was possible to be. He hunched his shoulders and went bright red.

“What, I’m not allowed to have a gay exception? Bran is…. Bran is special, okay? Stop staring at me, dammit!”

AboutTheAuthor

Author PicMichaela Grey told stories to put herself to sleep since she was old enough to hold a conversation in her head. When she learned to write, she began putting those stories down on paper. She and her family reside in the Texas hill country with their cats, and she is perpetually on the hunt for peaceful writing time, which her four children make difficult to find.

Michaela started her career with Dreamspinner Press. Her first book is called Coffee Cake, published in May of 2015, and its sequel is Beignets, coming in October of 2015. She is represented by Saritza Hernandez, of Corvisiero Literary Agency.

Queer romance is her happy place, and she delights in pushing her limits, testing her abilities and forcing herself to write scenarios she’s not familiar with. Angst is her lifeblood, and she wants you to know that your tears are delicious. (But don’t worry, she’ll always give you a happy ending.)

When she’s not writing, she’s knitting while watching TV or avoiding responsibilities on Tumblr, where she shamelessly ogles pretty people and tries to keep her cat off the keyboard.

Blurb: Let go of the past. Live in the moment. The future will take care of itself.

Tailor Sway is a professional organizer on the brink of divorce. When he is hired to appear on a reality TV show called “Hoarded Houses”, he has three days to help a collector of Christmas decorations clean up her property before it’s condemned by local authorities.

Everything is going according to Tailor’s carefully laid plans. That is, until Brayzen Mapleridge, a mega-famous pop singer known for his wild, daredevil antics, shows up.

Forced to pay for a recent stunt which has turned into a serious legal matter, Brayzen is given the opportunity to avoid jail time by doing some hard labor in front of the cameras. But, it’s not an easy thing to do while being chased by all who trail in the wake of a major celebrity. Is Brayzen sincere about helping, or is it all just part of a well-crafted publicity campaign?

Despite some initial clashes between Tailor’s uptight determination and Brayzen’s carefree attitude, the two develop an unlikely partnership that quickly blossoms into a sizzling attraction.

But, Tailor’s unresolved conflict with his husband, Grant, an emotionally scarred veteran of the Iraq War, still looms in the background amidst a whirlwind of TV cameras, relentless paparazzi, eager fans, and scathing headlines. Despite all these complications, will it be Brayzen’s own meddling mother who puts the brakes on their steamy love affair for good?

At times sexy, laugh-out-loud funny, and tragically heartbreaking; this erotic tale of love, loss and letting go promises to give you a front-row seat on Tailor and Brayzen’s crazy, romantic rollercoaster ride. Strap yourself in!

EXCERPT

The noise gets ten times louder than the loudest thing I’ve ever heard.  I feel the persistent thump of the music driving its vibrations deep within me, so resounding that it replaces the rhythm of my own heartbeat.

The man everyone is clamoring to see finally steps out to the edge of the copter’s open passenger compartment.  He waves to the crowd and the sustained response is so high-pitched and so penetrating, I’m afraid every window on the street will shatter.

He makes his magical descent from the aircraft in silhouette.  The outline of his body is illuminated with a sparkling halo from the morning sun, giving him an ethereal, extraterrestrial quality.

Harnessed to a cable rig, he lowers himself like the New Year’s Eve ball in Times Square to the wild thrill of his audience.  Inch-by-inch, he drops toward the street below him, smooth as summer cherries.

He takes his time, teasing his throng of devotees until they reward him with even louder, rabid applause.

Clearly a skilled showman, he plays the scene to the hilt, milking the moment for all its worth.  The hysterical response he provokes from his audience is palpable.

His clean, white basketball sneakers touch the ground like an angel stepping on a cloud.  He plants both feet on the red carpet with the ease of a cool and confident pro.  He stands proud with his chest puffed out and a self-satisfied smile, as if he just swooped in to save the day.

With the sun’s glare out of the way, my eyes are able to focus in on the details.  My first impression is one of instant, breathtaking recognition.

I call out to Bridgette, but I don’t think she hears me.  “Is that who I think it is?”

She doesn’t answer, but I’m pretty sure I’m right.

Brayzen Mapleridge — pop singing sensation, infamous for his antics on and off the stage — just rappelled into my work site.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

AuthorPicKirby Quinlan was raised by a single mom who sold vacuum cleaners and abandoned by a father who was both a former U.S. Marine and Baptist preacher.  After a challenging upbringing, he came out to family and friends at the age of sixteen.

With hopes of making movies, he learned the craft of screenwriting, honing his love of storytelling.  He quit writing in 2002, however, frustrated he couldn’t promote the diversity-rich stories he was passionate about.  But now, in the world of digital self-publishing, he has found an avenue to finally tell the stories he’s always wanted to tell; the types of stories he wishes had been mainstream when he was growing up.

His first published work was the short story “New World” in the Queer Science Fiction anthology “Discovery”.  He has plans for several standalone novels, as well as serial works in his favorite genres, including sci-fi, fantasy, adventure, pulp detective and even western.  They are hopeful, action-packed tales of strong, positive LGBTQ characters finding love, fighting oppression and overcoming extraordinary challenges in a real-to-life way.

Ironically, Kirby’s own true love came to him in the form he least expected, when he met his female roommate and best friend, Karla.  Their marriage in 2013, proved to them both that love is love.  It has no boundaries, knows no gender and can’t always be defined by labels.  Karla is an author as well and they live a happy life together in Portland, OR.

Blurb: This book is a sequel to Two Man Advantage

Life has been treating Victor Kalinski well, which is a surprise for the ginger-haired forward with the venomous tongue. His career is somewhat stable, at least for another season. His relationship with Cougars alternate captain Dan Arou is deepening, despite the fact that Daniel has yet to come out of the closet.

It’s typical Kalinski luck when a puck bunny he shared a drunken night with several months ago slaps him with a paternity suit. Despite the sizzling passion and painfully heartfelt connection between them, Dan doesn’t take the news well, and heads back to Canada alone.

If he wants to make things right and win back the man he loves, he has no choice but to swallow his pride—and nobody’s prouder than hot-headed, ego-driven Victor.

Reader Advisory: This story has graphic sexual language and scenes—no closed bedroom doors (or other rooms) here!

An adult male/male romance from Ellora’s Cave

Excerpt

It was obvious what I had to do. And being me, I went into it with my usual tact and decorum. When I got back to our apartment, I walked into the space I shared with Dan to find two fat suitcases sitting in the living room. Upon seeing those bags, the hash browns and toast threatened to make a reappearance. I swallowed several times. Dan walked out of the bedroom, his small toiletry bag on his shoulder. He looked exhausted and so damaged.

“Hey,” I said. Verbal skills suffer with heavy drinking and heart-breaking. “So this is how it goes down?” I asked, motioning with a shaky hand to the bags. “You throw me out without even giving me a chance to explain? That’s pretty small even for a Hobbit.”

“Those are my clothes.” He hurled the words at me like shuriken stars. Mental cogs slipped a bit. I stared at my lover as if I were a stunned steer outside a butcher house.

“Dude, your name is on the lease.” Fuck, but those seven words cost me dearly. It hurt to say them, knowing that this was the beginning of the end. No way could I live here when it was Dan’s place.

“I’m not moving out. I’m going home.” His tone was bitterly cold. If we’d shut the windows, we could have skipped the AC units we’d discussed. Not knowing what to do with my hands, I began jangling my keys against my thigh.

“This is your home. I’ll get my shit and go.”

“No, I’m going home. To Manitoba. It’s my mom’s birthday.” He bent down to pick up his suitcases.

I felt a sting of panic race through me. My keys rattled with more speed. “We were supposed to do that together.” Wow, I was all sorts of skilled with the dialog.

Dan glared at me as he straightened. His bangs dangled in his eyes. “Yeah, well, that was before you fucked us over. I don’t want you anywhere near me or my family right now. I need to think.”

“Will you at least take the gift I got her?” Dear Baby Buddha, was that Victor Kalinski begging? My fingers tightened around my keys. That needy voice had to stop. VK did not beg or wheedle. Whining got you beat with whatever was at hand. Same as getting your fingers caught in the wringers.

“No.” He walked around me and out the door. I watched him go, his dark head slowly disappearing as he went down the stairs.

“But I picked it out myself.”

The roar of his Jeep leaving the driveway was his reply.
